General Infomation regarding:

DISTANCE LEARNING / ONLINE CLASS POLICIES

Each online continuing education course shall consist of course content relevant to the subject matter of the course, and a final exam which the online student must pass with a score of at least seventy (70%).

Continuing education credits will only be given by the school if the student has passed the final exam with a score of seventy percent (70%) or better and provides the school with the required signed affidavit.

For all online Maryland and Virginia Distance Learning C.E. courses, the student must achieve at least a 90% score on quizzes to progress and the final exam score must be at least 70% to pass the course. Please note, although the Dearborn/REcampus’ software is designed to only require a passing grade of 65% on the final exam by default, the Maryland Real Estate Commission requires a score of at least 70% on the final to receive continuing education credit. You may retake the quizzes and final exam until these scores are achieved to pass the course.

The online course need not be completed in one sitting; it will have a bookmark function that will allow the online student to return to where the student previously left off. Review tests/quizzes and finals may not be bookmarked, and may not be returned to by the student.

The student will have to finish the exam once he has started taking it. The final exams must be taken in one sitting.  If there is no activity for an extended period of time during your exam, the system will reboot and you may be required to retake the final exam.

The student will have a deadline of six months from the start date of the course to complete the course. (Note: D.C. course require the student complete the class within 90 days of enrollment) If the student has not passed the final exam by the deadline, no credit may awarded to the student.

There is no refund for any course once a student has completed more than the introduction to the course.

Final Exam: If the student fails initially to achieve a passing score on a final examination the student may retake the exam. The student must successfully pass the examination within thirty (30) calendar days from the time the first final exam was taken to use the course for continuing education credit.

If you achieve the required passing score on the final exam, the online course will inform you on the Study Plan page that you have completed the course and report your final exam score to the school. The school will then contact the student (you) via the email address registered on the Dearborn site. The congratulatory email will include an affidavit that must be returned to the school before the school may issue a certificate of completion.

Affidavit:  Signed affidavits must be submitted to the school before the course completion credits are reported.  (See above for copies of the affidavits).  Note: VA affidavits must be notarized.
