Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification


Course Objectives

The goal of the Military Relocation Professional Certification Course is to educate real estate professionals about working with current and former military service members to find the housing solutions that best suit their needs and take full advantage of military benefits and support. Students will learn how to provide the real estate services—at any stage in the service member’s military career—that meet the needs of this niche market and win future referrals.


In this course you will learn and master the following:
Understanding The Military Market

  1.  Use demographics of the military market to formulate business strategies and determine service offerings.

  2. Learn how Department of Defense policies impact service members’ housing choices.

  3. Compare military basic allowance for housing (BAH) rates to market area home prices, mortgage rates, and rents.

  4. Provide information to help service members through a rent or buy/sell decision-making process.

  5. Adapt core real estate skills to serve military buyers, sellers, and renters.

  6. Build and expand a referral base for military clients and customers.

PCS—the Military Relo

  1. Identify and provide services that help service members find and purchase suitable homes. §

  2. Apply knowledge of the PCS processes and procedures to guide service members through the real estate transaction.

  3. Enhance your sensitivity to the emotional issues involved when a military family relocates.

  4.  Plan strategies to help military clients make transaction decisions when one spouse is deployed.

  5. Identify issues involved in military families PCS move by asking the right questions and provide guidance to address and resolve issues.

  6. Monitor Department of Defense decisions that impact military service members and their families.

VA Financing for Active Duty  and Veterans

  1.  Explain the basics of VA financing.

  2. Recognize situations in which a buyer is eligible for VA financing. 

  3. Connect prospective buyers with sources of information and lenders for VA financing.

  4.  Distinguish types of properties and transactions that are eligible for VA financing. 

  5. Describe the qualifying criteria and process for a VA compromise sale.

  6. Use information sources to keep up-to-date on VA loan limits and regulations

  •  Complete the Military Relocation Professional Certification Course.

  •  Submit a one-time fee of $195.

  • MRP is the only military-oriented certification or designation program conferred by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®.
